Netherlands, Restored kingdom, 2-1/2 Gulden – 1960

Description

At the end of 1944 the liberation of the country began, in charge of the first Canadian army, and in 1945, like many other European countries, immediately after the end of World War II, the country had to deal with the decolonization of the old Colonies Thus, almost immediately, Indonesia claimed its independence, which would not be recognized by the Netherlands until 1949. In 1954 the kingdom was reorganized, recognizing the old colonies with an equal character. However, Surinam would become independent in 1975, and the Antilles would reorganize in 2010. With respect to the neutrality policy that the country had followed during the first part of the 20th century, it was abandoned, looking for greater integration with neighboring countries. Thus, the country was a founding member of almost all the supranational structures that were created, including the CECA, EUratom, NATO … During the end of the 20th century, the country has been a pioneer in many social and cultural issues, becoming a reference in sexual freedom and drug use for putting two examples.
