Description

In the Treaty of Versailles, an independent Poland with access to the sea is created again, as indicated by Wilson”s point, but Danzig is left as an autonomous city (although linked to Poland in foreign policy), since its population was mostly German . The growth of Nazism was very important in Danzig, and since the early 30s the pressure on the Polish population was increasing, with restrictions on employment and services. In 1937 the situation was unsustainable, and Germany pressed the League of Nations to grant Danzig the status of extraterritorial German territory with connection through Poland with Germany. The rejection of the German proposals would ultimately would be the excuse for the invasion of Poland and the beginning of World War II. In the numismatic field, Danzig had complete autonomy, which included his own parliament, hymn … and also the ability to broadcast seals and coins, based on the Gulden of Danzig.
