Description
After the abdication of Carol II, Romania becomes a fascist totalitarian regime under the command of General Antonescu. This signed the tripartite pact with Germany, Italy and Japan and after a failed blow of the Iron Guard, instituted an authentic military dictatorship. Romania entered World War II shortly after Russia”s Nazi invasion in June 1941 and could soon incorporate Besarabia and Bukovina into its territory. After the Soviet victory in the battle of Stalingrad, the opposition began to mobilize, looking for the approach to the allies. In 1944, the young King Mihai I ordered the arrest of Antonescu, and the formation of a government with democratic parties politicians.
