Description

In the Vienna Congress, Federico Francisco de Mecklenburg-Schwerin, joined the Germanic Confederation and was elevated to the title of Grand Duke. The servitude was abolished in the Great Duchy in 1819. The revolutions of 1848 created an important liberal agitation in the Duchy, which relaxed with a series of measures (creation of a basic law), which would be abolished shortly after by pressures of the nobility . In the dispute by Holstein, which would lead to the Austro-Prussian war in 1866, Mecklenburg-Schwerin supported Prussia as he did in the war with France. Fervent follower of German unification, Federico Francisco III joined the great Duchy as a state of the German empire. As for the numismatics of the time, he begins with his Thaler equated to that of Hannover, but from 1848, as well as all the northern states, the Prussian Thaler is equated. It was divided into 48 Schilling, each being 12 pfenning.
