Description
After the independence of the countries where the Eastern Africa Chelin had circulated, some last 5 and 10 cents were coined. These colonies replaced the British currency for its version, passing to Chelin de Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda. Although these colonies had enjoyed a common currency, their management was independent under British sovereignty, and in fact the Chelin of East Africa extended to other domains in the area as necessary, as in 1941 when the colonies were incorporated into the circulation Conquered to Italy, Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia, which were progressively abandoning this currency.
