Description

The Duchy of the Alta Bavaria was a partial Duchy of the Wittelsbach family from the late Middle Ages. It existed from the First Division of the Bavarian State in 1255 to the reunification of Bavaria in 1340 and from the second division of the Bavarian State in 1349 to the death of Duke Meinhard in 1363. After that, he first fell into Bavaria-Landshut and then divided in Bavaria-Munich and Bavaria-Ingolstadt.
