Description

The region that Lithuania occupies was exposed to Vikings attacks, and was a tributary of the kyiv Rus. However, in the twenty -one there is a record of an organized army that loots the kingdoms and janatos. This is the germ that will end up forming in the 19th century the Great Duchy of Lithuania. With the defeat of the Livonia Order in 1236 at the hands of the Samogitios (Lithuanian tribe), the Teutonic Order inherited its possessions with the intention of maintaining the pressure over all pagan and orthodox lands. The first Grand Duke, Mindaugas became Catholicism in 1253 with the intention of separating the knights, which he did not get. These would continue to attack the Great Duchy until the battle of Grunwald in 1410 when the Teutonic Knights were defeated, even after the personal union with the kingdom of Poland of 1385, in which Catholicism also became the official religion of the great ducat. The great duch had been formed as one of the most extensive states in Europe, multicultural and multiethnic, covering territories to the black Sea. In 1569 with the Union of Lublin, which was a personal union of the kingdom of Poland and the great ducat of Lithuania, it becomes a joint, as a federation in which each of the two entities maintains its own identity, laws, laws, Army and Treasury. Initially it was used in the great Duchy and neighbors to the east, elongated silver bulls as currency. Subsequently, coin -based cointers begin.
