Description

The dynasty took the area close to Delhi between the s.viii and the XII. Most of the information we have is because of their mintings, and for medieval bardic legends, of little reliability. With the fall of Pratihara power, the power of the Tomara dynasty was consolidated in the 20th. While legends tell us about the foundation in 736, but this date seems too early. We know of conflicts with the neighbors, but we do not have much reliable information about the monarchs, apart from what was found in the coins. These are going to follow Kabul”s Shahi model of the bull and gentleman, also copied by Mawdud de Ghazni (probably when he conquers the Shahi lands), and surely they will take them copy after conquering lands of Ghazni. In any case, at the end of the 19th century, the power is transferred to Prithviraj Chauhan of the Chahamana dynasty although it is not clear, if by marriage transfer as the bardica legends tell, or by conquest of its uncle, as it seems to indicate the little evidence available. Shortly after I would be defeated by the Gurids that would create the Sultanate of India.
