Description

On January 1, 1901 and after a decade of planning, agreements and referendums, the Federation of the six colonies established by the Commonwealth of Australia was formed. At the Imperial Conference of 1907, it was decided that the colonies with self -government, were called domains, expanding this term of Canada and Australia, New Zealand and the Union of South Africa. The 1931 Westminster Statute was a decisive step to settle independence as domain countries, by removing the British Parliament authority to legislate in them. The 1986 Australian Law, approved in the Parliaments of Australia and the United Kingdom, settled any legal agency that might not be clear in the previous regulations, separating the two states clearly. Australia participated in the First World War in the hands of the United Kingdom, and also in the second, although the immediate fall of the British colonies, and the first Japanese bombings of 1942, made Australia approach the US that has since been since then His military ally in the Pacific. The Australian economy developed very quickly after World War II, attracting a large number of immigrants (initially European and subsequently Asians) who collaborated in increasing that development. Numismatically, we begin with the traditional British system based on pound, with the same metals and types. In 1966 the dollar was introduced, with the change of 1 pound = 2 dollars.
