Description

The Quebec Bank was inaugurated in 1818 as an alternative to the Bank of Montreal, not considered adequate by Quebec City merchants. The war of 1812 had caused lack of circulating that had been supplied with numerous merchant and banks sheets. At the end of the 30s, the Copper Current was in such a bad condition, that the bank (like others), coined commercial records by means of medium and a penny. Although dated in 1837, they were actually coined in early 1838.
