Description
In 1867, Prince Eduardo Island, a separate colony of Nova Scotia since 1769, decided not to join the Confederation, although she had host the meetings in Charlottetown in 1864. In 1871, the construction of the railroad on the island began, which entails important debts. With the offer of the Canada Confederation to pay the debt, and solve the problems of land ownership, Prince Eduardo island joined it in 1873.
