Description

In 1895 the Eastern Africa Protectorate was created, responding to the failure of the Imperial Company of British Eastern Africa and in 1902 its management is transferred to the colonial office and the lands of Uganda are incorporated. At this time the agricultural possibilities of the colony will be exploited more efficiently, extending towards the interior, awarded as a British influence zone at the Berlin conference. In 1920 the colony would be modified, leaving the coastal strip under the nominal title of the Sultan de Zanzibar as Kenya protectorate. The capital passes from Mombasa to Nairobi in 1907, when he had not been created with the arrival of the Uganda railroad, but its soft altitude and climate, led to its rapid growth. There was strong Indian immigration too, but racial segregation was applied, leaving the best lands for whites in high areas.
