Description

After repelling the Soviet attempts to return Estonia to its territory, the Constituent Assembly was formed that would give way to a parliamentary democracy with a very liberal constitution. He joined the League of Nations in 1921 and signed non -aggression pacts with Russia and Germany, which would prove holes in the war. Estonia tried to reach agreements with Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Finland, but in the end only the 1934 Baltic Entente could be completed. In internal policy, as in many other European countries, the crisis of 1929 tense the economy and with it society as a whole, tending towards more authoritarian policies. Thus, in 1934 with the excuse of a coup attempt, the head of state, Konstantin Paats, established an authoritarian government with the suspension of political parties. The Molotov-libbentrop pact secretly distributed Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Finland in spheres of influence, where Estonia fell into the Soviet orbit. On August 6, 1940, Estonia was incorporated into the Soviet Union as the Soviet Socialist Republic of Estonia. In the numismatic aspect, the Republic began with a Mark -based system, replaced by the Kroon in 1928 (1 Kroon = 100 Mark, so the Mark = Sent)
