Description

The French protectorate of Sarre was constituted in 1946, tearing the area of ​​the French occupation. If the initial idea was probably ending up incorporating the territory into France, the reality of the Cold War, makes a strong Germany necessary, and the territory ended up rejoined to Germany in 1957 after a referendum. Sarre was one of the most industrialized regions in Germany, and also with a border with France. As in World War I, the idea was to compensate France with the production of this region. The Reichsmark ceased to be the legal currency, to be the framework of Sarre, as a transition measure to the Francés Francés, which was the currency until its incorporation into the German Federal Republic, as a state.
