Description
In 1947 the Convention of the United Gold Coast was formed, beginning to ask for self -government in the shortest possible time. In 1949, Kwame Nkrumah founded the Popular Convention Party, whose motto was self -government already starting a non -violent resistance campaign. After being arrested, he became Prime Minister in 1952 initiating an infrastructure improvement campaign. In 1957, several colonies of the gold coast were unified in a single domain of the Commonwealth with the name of Ghana. This was part of Ghana”s Independence Law. On June 1, 1960, Ghana”s independence was declared.
