Description

After the defeat of the Marath in the Third War Marathpal, Bhopal entered under British protection. A peculiarity of Bhopal, is that between 1819 and 1926 it was managed by women, Begums, something unique in the royalty of the time. Bhopal became a center of religious importance where numerous followers of Indian Wahhabismo joined. He supported the Eastern Indies Company in the great survey of 1857. The Pacific Government of the Begums, allowed Bhopal to have an outstanding mixed culture, where the Hindues also got important positions in the administration. Despite the initial opposition of the last Nawab to join the Indian Union, the incorporation was finally made in 1949.
