Description
In 1732, Peshwa appointed Malhar Rao Holkar governor of the province, incorporating more territories. After the defeat of the Holkar leaders in the third Anglo-Martha War, an agreement was signed that turned Indore into a British protectorate. The Holkar family was able to continue in power, thanks especially to the actions of Dewan. At the end of the 19th century, the industrialization of the State begins, partly thanks to the railroad that arrives in 1875. After the independence of India, Indore accesses the Indian Union in 1947.
