In 1806 Napoleon appointed his brother Luis Rey of Holland, passing the colonies to depend on the New Kingdom. In 1811 the British conquer important ports of the Dutch Eastern Indies, who will not return to Holland to the peace treaties that end the Napoleonic wars.
