Description

In 1945 Jersey was released, and many citizens wanted important changes in government. The election of deputies of 1945 implied the desire to change citizens. In 1948 great changes were made, extending the vote and effectively separating the legislative and judicial powers, which were previously mixed. In 1950 the island adopted free secondary education, universal health, and social security. The population grew quickly, especially with officials from the colonies that were independent, and sought a destination with low taxes. The financial industry emerged from the 60s, taking advantage of the state of fiscal paradise, and has remained important for the island, causing a stir the Jersey papers.
