Description

In 1839, the Peruvian Bolivian Confederation dissolves, and Peru is provided with a new conservative constitution. The separation was not easy and peace was not reached until 1842 with the Puno Treaty. With Ramón Castilla, the Republic reached a relative inner peace, and economic and material development began. Guano begins to configure as an essential economic resource. In 1879 the Pacific War was unleashed and Chile invade southern Peru, as well as the Bolivian coast. The country would not recover until 1895, and growth was not as intense as in the previous period. In 1909, border disputes with Bolivia were resolved and in 1942 the war was won to Ecuador, also settling this centenary issue. In the 50 the rural exodus begins, and the economy will follow the steps of the rest of Latin America, culminating in the decade loss of the 80s.
