Description

The independence of Brazil is totally recognized in 1825, but the death of Juan VI in 1826, makes Emperor Pedro . However, his uncle the infant Miguel claims the kingdom for him, and explodes a civil war. The war ends in 1834 with the defeat of Miguel, the restoration of María II and the promulgation of a Constitution. The country is rapidly modernized, and the third empire is sought to configure the African colonies. In 1908, the king and his heir were killed by Republican activists. Under his reign, two bankruptcies had declared themselves and the discontent was important. The youngest son, Manuel II inherited the throne, but in 1910 he was sent into exile by the Republican Revolution.
